Tobogganing

Toboggan fun and hut magic!

In our region there are over 30 toboggan runs, 5 of them in the immediate vicinity of Lienz. You can choose between natural paths and well illuminated man-made runs, some of which can be reached using aerial ropeways.

Tobogganing is very much a convivial pastime for young and old and for families, a popular activity on excursions.

Lienz Dolomites toboggan run

The course is located at the foot of the Rauchkofel mountain in the community of Amlach, with the finish almost exactly on the political border between Amlach and Leisach. On account of the shady location (gets very little sun in winter) the run can be used fairly reliably provided that the temperatures are right and there is sufficient snow.

Because the run is not all that high up the mountain there is not always enough natural snow every winter. The bends are all made safe and no vehicles are allowed on the track. The run is on the short side, so it is easy to walk up to the start (on the path itself) even for children. What's more, the run is floodlit every evening until 11 p.m..

Dolomitenhütte toboggan run

The Dolomites Hut is one of our most popular destinations for tobogganers. The more sporting guests pull their sleds up to the hut in about 2 hours. There is also a non-complimentary toboggan shuttle for those who prefer a more leisurely adventure. The Dolomites Hut is 1,620m above sea level and just 12km from the Lienz town centre.
